Description & Commentary: | Although wiregate carabiners were common in the marine industry, the BD HotWire was the first purpose built climbing carabiner using this technology. The Quickwire used the Quicksilver body with a wiregate, to reduce costs. MSRP QuickWire: $6.75 (2000, $11.46 in 2022 dollars) MSRP HotWire: $7.95 (2000, $13.49 in 2022 dollars) It does not have the semi-hooded nose of the HotWire, and is more susceptible to accidental gate openings when dragged against the rock or similar foreign object. |
