Description & Commentary: | This appears to be whitelabel production by Omega Pacific for Bluewater, from the 1990s. Unlike this similar Omega carabiner, this example has a full gate shield to protect the rope in the event that the carabiner becomes crossloaded during a fall. It does retain the nose-stopped locking sleeve, which can jam the locking sleeve against the nose, especially if the sleeve tightens under even a light load (from vibrations or an inattentive climber). Manufacturers would move away from this sleeve-stop design by the mid to late '90s. |
