Summary:screwgate version of the original integral pulley carabiner
Description & Commentary:

A locking version of the integrated pulley carabiner which started it all - ushering in a new era of easy rescues and redirects.

Released in late 2004, the non-locking version was originally marketed to reduce rope drag when leading wandering rock climbing routes, but quickly became popular in other applications such as building (inefficient) z-drag rescue systems and rope redirects. The locking Revolver (available summer 2007) makes the design suitable for a greater range of life-support applications, but the small sheave is significantly less efficient than micro pulleys. Other manufacturers have since released similar designs with larger (and more efficient) sheaves such as the Petzl Rollaclip and Edelrid Axiom.

I prefer the screw locking version because of the versatility.

DMM first advertised the revolver on their website in late 2004, and a brochure on the DMM website in 2005 showed images of an early version of the revolver. If you have an example of this version, please contact me.

This older image had been replaced by the time the Winter 2006-2007 catalog was released.
