| Description & Commentary: | A unique mult-gate belay carabiner from Grivel. Features a semi-captive wire-eye, and fin to help limit crossloading of the carabiner when belaying. Both the wiregate and the inner solid gate are sprung, and close into catches on the nose and toe of the carabiner. This should make the carabiner much stronger than the rating of 20 kN in the major axis. As a Class T connector (Termination / Directional) with automatic gate-locking, the Clepsydra S does not possess ratings for other loadings. Passing the fin requires 17.6mm x 11.3mm clearance. Internal wiregate has an 8.3mm opening. This carabiner is an excellent example of just how wild carabiner designs have become in the last 10 years. |
