Description & Commentary: | A fairly basic asymmetric D carabiner, slightly offset, offered in Straight Gate and Bent Gate. The Bent Gate version has an extremely minor (approx. 1mm) sweep, but this does yield 2 mm additional gate opening. The latching mechanism is a clean clawlock type, with the nose claw shrouded by a central rib. The claws on either side of the rib do catch, but not nearly as easily as a traditional clawlock carabiner. Unfortunately, this does leave claws on the gate, which catch similar to reverse pin & notch designs. The markings are very shallow and may be etched/ablated in some way rather than forged when the carabiner was shaped. From my brief initial research, I found that Stubai offered a red anodized version in 2007 (and likely earlier), and moved to a keylock nose sometime between Aug 2009 and May 1010. |
