Description & Commentary:

An early 2000's snagless clawlock nose design which Wild Country called the "Clean-lock" no-hook nose. A ridge down the center of the claw-lock gate latch reduces snagging when unclipping gear or bolt hangers, but the side hooks can still catch more than a modern keylock nose - especially on soft, flexible webbing.

The 7075 Aluminum body (the most common Al alloy for carabiners) has a 10 kN gate open strength, higher than most quick draw carabiners of the era, and an advertised feature (at the time) of Wild Country carabiners.

Wild Country marketing material of the day also touted that:

The deep 'basket' and bow back profile of Wild Country karabiners allows for wider gate opening and easier clips. This means that the rope is safely held against the back - the strongest section of the karabiner.

This example is of the straight-gate variety, and dates from 2006 or later, as WC started color anodizing the Oxygen carabiners at that time.
