Summary: | 30kN captive pin twistlock |
Description & Commentary: | Defunct climbing equipment manufacturer Hugh banner (1980s-2005) produced a number of twistlock carabiners (which they called Autolock) in the later 1990s and early 2000s as part of their Hi-Spec line, including this HB 11mm model. This example has a permanently installed captive pin and boasts an impressive 30kN major axis strength rating. The lower/hinge rivet is flattened to clear the locking sleeve, whereas the heads of the upper/nose rivet are domed. Unfortunately, the domed rivet heads protrude significantly from the gate body, and the sharp edges will easily catch on soft goods in use. |
