Summary: | unique bi-directional twist |
Description & Commentary: | A large HMS style carabiner with a unique bi-directional triple-action lock. The majority of triple action carabiners used in work environments are of the lift-twist-open variety, with the sleeve turning to the left as viewed from the front (gate) of the carabiner (or clockwise from the top). The Skylotec Double Tri system can be opened by lifting, then twisting the locking sleeve in either direction before opening. Because the sleeve tubing only blocks the nose with about a 90 deg tab rather than 270+ deg, I wonder if this design significantly affects the gate-face strength (resistance to inward push in the locked position). |
