| Description & Commentary: | Designed to be semi-permanent, and (unlike traditional carabiners) designed for omni directional loading - gated rings are becoming more common these days for configuring harnesses/saddles and other equipment. The gate permits installation on equipment with fixed, closed loops such as sewn eye splices or as attachment points on certain saddle loops. Many gated rings utilize a screw (and protective filler) to keep the ring from opening under load. The stainless steel Odin sports a unique side-opening un-sprung gate with a key lock nose. A headless allen screw (grub screw) secures the gate, threading through one side of the gate, through the nose, and into a blind hole on the far side of the gate. |
