Summary:finely threaded sleeve, symmetric HMS
Description & Commentary:

A basic bog standard full profile HMS carabiner, in the same vein as the iconic Petzl Attache. Features a narrower shape than the Attache, with a textured finish and less aggressive knurling on the locking sleeve.

The most notable feature, loved by some and hated by others, is the fine threading Metolius uses on their screwgate carabiners. This element screwgate requires over 5 full rotations from lock in order to open the gate. Most other locking carabiners require 2-3 full rotations, and over 4 rotations is rare.

Metolius started rating their Element lockers at 24kN in 2014.

This example has larger markings than this other Element Locker, along with slightly different degrees of rotation to unlock.
