Description & Commentary:

A simple clawlock carabiner with two unique features - a locking sleeve stopped by a stud on the side of the carabiner nose, and thin 10mm diameter profile.

The sleeve stop creates a reliable stop without jamming the carabiner and probably simplfies production. The thin profile is plenty strong in steel, and significantly reduced bulk compared to other typical steel carabiners. This does make me consider if there would be an application for thin, (relatively) lightweight steel carabiners for use in highwear or crowded applications such as on bolt hangers.

I am unfamiliar with the 123 brand of carabiners, but it appears they have been producing carabiners since 1967. This appears to use stamped markings - slightly older than the laser markings shown on the current website.

I acquired these as part of a group of vintage carabiners including a different KB10-S with laser markings, and this Unmarked non-locking carabiner which is very similar to the other 123 carabiners.
